Sailfish OS: is there an image like shown on MWC18
#1
Hi,

The gemini PDA at the MWC18 was shown with a sailfish OS on it. Is this image as technical preview available?

It's not ready yet but we hope to have it soon.

Hello guys! Since the SailfishOS for the Gemini PDA is coming closer to a beta release and inofficial image alredy exists i would suggest to make an extra SailfishOS Forum.

5 guys (including me) from the German SailfishOS Community have baked the Gemini PDA. As soon, as they are delivered we would offer a more active SailfishOS Development and Testing / Debugging.

Looking forward to get Gemini.... Since 1999 i waited for about 19 years for the successor of the Psion Series 5mx Pro PDA. Now its here. Its so cool....

When will a "Sailfish OS on Gemini" forum be created? The last "we hope to have it soon" is 2 months old and I hope the conditions and cooperation with licensors could be clarified.

If we were inclined to view or participate in the SailfishOS Community, where would those be?

I'm looking forward to SailfishOS on the Gemini.   I think that is going to be a great pairing!

Thumbs Up
Thank you Planet Computers

for that community port of sailfish os 2.1.4.14 on http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Main_Page

and for the triple boot option at the partitioning tool that we can flash now.

The answer to the threads question is YES since 22th June 2018. What a great start into the summer :-)

Idea PS: give us a "Sailfish on Gemini" forum above please. Now we need a place to discuss. I can only find "Android on Gemini" and "Linux on Gemini" atm.

Thanks for bringing this to attention - - - I will get on this tomorrow, as I have been looking forward to giving Sailfish a test-drive on my Gemini, and indeed thanks to Planet for including it. Big Grin

I would second a "Sailfish on Gemini" forum. Yes, it is technically a linux distro, but there are sailfish specific fixes/tips/tricks/bugs that could be better handled in a dedicated forum. I am using sailfish, and can say that it really is a good match for the gemini. There is a general lack of apps but as an avid iOS/android shunner, this is the norm for me Smile
