Yes, it is technically a linux distro, but there are sailfish specific fixes/tips/tricks/bugs that could be better handled in a dedicated forum. I am using sailfish, and can say that it really is a good match for the gemini. There is a general lack of apps but as an avid iOS/android shunner, this is the norm for me Smile

I am not sure if this is where Planet want us to go to discuss Gemini and the OS's in general, but there is some discussion going-on here https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showforum=192

Meanwhile, as a fellow iOS & 'droid shunner, I too am finding Sailfish a delightful breath of fresh air, and it has inspired me to pick-up a Sony Experia phone and flash it with Sailfish-X, (which does provide for the installation of  .apk's if your really must).

As for app's - - -  personally I don't need or want that many, but you could do worse than look at https://openrepos.net/  if you cannot find what you are looking for in the Jolla store, chances are there'll be something there that will serve.

I was actually thinking of improvements to the sailfish firmware/OS. I don't know how much PC is involved with the development/porting of the community edition. The oesf forum is more for user related problems, whereas this should be more developer based. I am vader in the oesf as well Smile

Examples are:
* adding support for the silver button/keyboard shortcuts
* library management (I have managed to stop html5test running in the browser due to installing libraries for compilation)
* tips/tricks to port apps to sailfish - command line tools are easy, I compiled up imagemagick with no real issues
* tools/ides for native development (imagemagick compiled on the device)

etc.

Openrepos are a good place to search for more software.

yes, it looks like we should leave this forum and go to oesf.org. Nothing happens here on the developer.planetcom.co.uk channel to add a sailfishos forum. Maybe I quit soon.
