Gemini fails to boot Android after todays OTA update - tader - 06-04-2018

After installing the latest update using the OTA update tool in the settings menu, my Gemini fails to boot Android, I'm looking at planets spinning the planet logo for ages... I have tried wiping the cache. Does anybody have an idea how I can get the Gemini in a working state without wiping all my user data?

I experienced with this too and end-up need to flash the Android firmware again - all user data was lost of course.

the same here. Have TWRP recovery and Magisk root installed.
Is it possible to update Android from recovery without userdata loss?

nox, can you explain what your issue is exactly? The android update is for android only, you mention having lineage os installed...

For those of us who have set the Gemini up to dual boot Android and Debian Linux. How do we preform the update to only the Android OS?

If you want to go back from a dual boot Linux-Android to an Android-only firmware, just flash the Android-only image available at http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Gemini_Firmware.

Lineage OS? No.
Official rooted Android + TWRP.

Is there any chance that official updates will not ruin the OS?

Over the air updates updates released by Planet Computer are intended to work on Android only (non-root) devices. There are some sanity checks in place, so if you have a dual boot device and you try an update, the process will be interrupted without consequences.

The easiest way to update a dual boot device or a rooted Android one is to download the firmware from http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Gemini_Firmware and use the flash tool to write only the system partition, which contains the Android OS.

We are about to release the firmware related to the last FOTA update, they should be online in a few days.
